Using Montessori Grammar symbols, the students will learn how to represent parts of speech.
Focus: Nouns, Verbs, Articles, Adjectives, Conjunctions + Storytelling & AnalysisCourse DescriptionThis six-week grammar block introduces children to the building blocks of language through the Montessori method. Using grammar symbols, movement activities, storytelling, and hands-on materials, students will discover nouns, verbs, articles, adjectives, and conjunctions. Each lesson combines direct instruction, storytelling, guided practice, and opportunities for independent exploration, with an emphasis on developing strong oral language and early writing skills.
Individual Excellence in Writing for Middle and Upper School students (Ages 9+)
This course develops foundational grammar and writing skills through a combination of in-class instruction, guided practice, and at-home assignments. Students will learn the parts of speech, sentence patterns, and sentence purposes while practicing the IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) structure and style techniques. Weekly assignments will build confidence in note-taking, outlining, and composition, while fostering public speaking habits through retelling and presentations.Learning Objectives· Identify and use the eight parts of speech.· Recognize and apply different sentence patterns and purposes.· Take effective notes using key word outlines (KWO).· Retell stories orally with strong public speaking habits.· Write structured paragraphs with style techniques (dress-ups, sentence openers, decorations).· Use editing checklists to refine their writing.· Expand vocabulary and apply it in context.· Develop confidence in presenting written and oral work.
